Solutions Development Manager


The role

This is a leadership role focused on understanding business needs and opportunities and translating them into optimal technical solutions consistent with our strategic direction.

The Solutions Development Manager leads a small team of developers in the review, planning, development and implementation of fit-for-purpose IT solutions that are customer focused, coordinated and aligned with Orion’s strategy. While the Solutions Development team sits in the Information Solutions business unit, it actively consults and collaborates with key stakeholders across the business to ensure optimal service delivery.

In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service and champion continuous improvement in an environment that promotes and values innovation and smart solutions.

The candidate

You will be an experienced people leader who listens and engages with key stakeholders in a collaborative, respectful manner to achieve successful outcomes for the business. 

A relevant tertiary qualification as well as experience in electricity distribution or a related industry will be well regarded.

In addition you will have:

  • Significant, proven success in a people leadership role with line management responsibilities, that includes the professional development of staff

  • Very strong stakeholder engagement with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and take them with you on a successful change journey

  • Experience in the development and delivery of IT projects using iterative, customer focused methodologies such as Agile

  • A background in project and program management

  • At least 5 years in a role with responsibility for both software development and the implementation of off-the-shelf systems that includes: formal business analysis and the specification and design of information systems; project management of systems and application development; vendor / contractor management
